Do you think that you could fit in just a few minutes a day to start getting rid of that belly fat? Even if you can't find the time to get to a gym, or have an enjoyable game of tennis or golf there are some other methods that you can adopt to help you start to get rid of that belly fat.

A recommended approach is to hit the training for short periods, or interval training, instead of long slow type sessions. This approach has been shown to be more effective in getting rid of belly fat.

To get started then set aside 10-15 mins per day to start on your higher intensity program, and get burning those calories, instead of them being stored on your stomach.

What is required is to get the heart rate up, give it some recovery and then get it up again. Hopefully you will warm up first and what better way than 2-3 minutes with the skipping rope. To add interest you can try all sorts of rhythms and beats by varying the speed of the rope, changing the jump pattern, crossing the arms back and forward, or skipping on one foot then the other. The only limit is your imagination. A good idea is to try and skip on the balls of your feet like you would see a boxer doing.

In the next 2 mins set yourself up for a squat exercise, when crouched down place your hands on the ground, thrust your legs out and do a push-up, move your legs back underneath, stand back up and repeat. Please don't rush this exercise if you are not fit as it is quite strenuous.

Skip for another 2 minute period at an increased pace so the heart rate is elevated and you may start to sweat.

Repetition of these steps can be undertaken for the rest of the exercise period or you may like to up the intensity by incorporating a side rotate into the press-up. If the arm on the top is extended upward it will assist in strengthening the core group of muscles. This should be repeated on both sides to keep balanced and your body working hard.

Another variation that you could add from the press-up position is to elevate one leg off the ground, and then the other leg before standing up. This really is a bonus for your back, abdominals and overall core muscles.

You could alternatively do some jogging between squats for some variation, before finishing your program with some slower skipping to cool down, and to give your heart a chance to slow down. If you can work on this simple series of exercises every day you will start to budge that belly fat and see some great improvement to your health in general.
